Privacy Policy

Linguella is a language-learning app. This policy explains what we store and why. It's intentionally short because the app does very little with your data.
What we store
When you create an account we store your email address (for sign-in) and the content you create — your decks, words, study progress, settings, and saved sentences/translations/conversations. This is kept in our database (Supabase) and tied to your account.
AI features
If AI features are enabled for your account, the text involved (deck words, generated sentences, your translation attempts, and conversation messages) is sent to our AI providers via the Vercel AI Gateway (which routes to providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic) to produce the response or audio. We log the size of these requests for cost tracking, not their content beyond what's needed to provide the feature.
Analytics
We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can improve it — for example which features get used and where people get stuck. We record anonymous usage events (page views, button clicks, and aggregate counts) tied to a random identifier, and once you sign in, to your account ID. We do not send PostHog your email, your name, or the content of your decks, sentences, or conversations. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we disable analytics for you.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, show ads, or share your information with third parties except the infrastructure providers needed to run the app (hosting, database, AI, analytics). We don't track you across other sites.
Storage on your device
We use your browser's local storage and cookies for preferences (like your chosen voice and active language) and for the analytics identifier described above. No third-party advertising cookies.
Deleting your data
You can delete decks and saved items in the app at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email the address below and we'll remove it.
