Help & FAQ

How do I add words to a deck?

Create a deck from the home screen (New deck), then on a deck choose “Manage words → Add words.” You can type pairs (one per line: word, meaning), upload a spreadsheet (.xlsx/.csv with two columns), or start from a list of the most common words in the language.

How does the studying work?

It uses spaced repetition (FSRS): each word comes back right before you'd forget it. “Due” means it's ready to review now, “new” words trickle in only as you graduate the ones you're learning, and “learning” is the handful you're actively nailing down. You set how many new words to juggle at once in Settings.

Why does a word have two schedules?

Each word is scheduled separately in each direction — hearing/reading it (foreign → English) and producing it (English → foreign). You can be solid one way and still learning the other; the toggle on the study screen switches between them.

What's the difference between the phone voice and the AI voice?

The phone (device) voice is built into your device — instant and consistent, great for drilling single words, but limited (on iPhone, web apps only get the basic voice). The AI voice is a natural cloud voice that sounds human and works on every device — best for sentences and conversation. You can pick which to use for flashcards vs. sentences in Settings.

The AI voice is silent on my iPhone — why?

iPhone's silent/ring switch mutes the AI (web) audio, while the built-in voice ignores it. Flip the side switch so the ringer is on, and the AI voice will play.

How do I get the AI features (sentences, translation, conversation, cloud voices)?

AI features are turned on per account. If yours isn't enabled yet, ask whoever invited you to grant access.

How do I rename, reorder, or delete decks?

Open “All decks” from the home screen. Drag to reorder (the top deck is your default), double-click a deck's name to rename it, and use the trash icon to delete. The deck at the top of that list is the one the home screen starts on.

Can I move or fix a card while studying?

Yes — reveal a card and use Edit (fix the word/meaning) or Move (send it to another deck). On the Manage words screen you can also bulk-select, move, copy, or delete, and run “Check for errors” to have the AI proofread the whole deck.

Is my data saved and backed up?

Yes. Your decks, cards, settings, and saved history live in the cloud, tied to your account and synced across your devices. Signing in on a new device restores everything.

How do I switch languages?

Use the language code (e.g. “IT”) in the top bar. Each language is its own workspace — its own decks, settings, and schedule.
